Eucalyptus



Eucalyptus globulus (Blue Gum)/radiata (Narrow Leaf) and many others such as Blue Mallee (polybractea), Gully Gum (smithii), Lemon Ironbark (staigeriana), Wolly Butt (macarthurii) and Peppermint (dives). Distilled from the leaves or young twigs.  The fragrance is somewhat camphorous with a woody undertone, familiar to most people, but associated with medicine.  Traditional remedy in Australia. Fifty species are found around the Mediterranean. Less common varieties include Kochii (extremely high cineole) and Camaldulensis (River Red Gum).700 species world-wide. Some species can grow a mind-splintering 125 feet in just 3 years.


CAUTIONS: Generally considered non-toxic, non-sensitizing, non-irritating in low doses.  Dilute well for topical use.  Best suited for diffusing and inhalation.  Possibly photo toxic with some varieties.  Use with EXTREME caution around babies and children.
