Citrus junos-distilled from peels or as an absolute. Similar to Bergamot, but with sweeter, more tangy notes. Considered sparkly, yet soft. Also known as Japanese Citron. Fruit indigenous to Japan that is a cross between a grapefruit and an orange. They also use it to flavor vinegars, soups, seafood dishes, sauces, and salads. It is used in aromatherapy for about the same purposes as Orange. It's more expensive than most citrus but much less expensive than Neroli. Combines the brightness of lemon with the emotional softness of mandarin and bergamot.
CAUTIONS: (1–2% dilution for massage) Cold-pressed yuzu can be phototoxic. Avoid sun exposure on treated skin for 12–18 hours unless using steam-distilled oil. It is mostly safe for diffusing. Avoid around infants.
