Orange

Citrus aurantium (bitter) Citrus sinensis (sweet)-extracted by cold expression from the outer peel of the almost ripe fruit.  Sweet orange is the same as the eating fruit. The sweet is used in the food and drink industry.   The leaves of the bitter produce PETITGRAIN and the flowers produce NEROLI.  The uses of both varieties are similar.  Both are used extensively as flavorings in pharmaceuticals, as fragrance in soaps, detergents, cosmetics, colognes.  Softens and gives warmth to any blend.  Works especially in harmony with LEMON.

WILD ORANGE is a variety as well as BLOOD ORANGE. If you see something called "Orange Fold", that is manipulated orange oil. It is created for the flavor and fragrance industry, giving an intensely sweet shot of orange flavoring, and a longer shelf life than cold-pressed citrus.

CAUTIONS: Generally considered non-toxic. Possible irritant and sensitizer, especially with old oils. Dilute well for topical use.  PHOTO TOXIC.  Do NOT use on skin exposed to sunlight. Can cause sensitivity to the sun within 12 hours of applying it topically.
