Frankincense





 Boswellia carteri/frereana/rivea/sacra -extracted from the steam distillation of the resin. Each chemotype has slightly different properties. Has a warm, resinous aroma. There are at least 20 different species of B. carteri and B. frareana alone.  Native to the Red Sea region. Used since antiquity as incense in India, China, and in the West by the Catholic church. B. Serrata is also known as Choya Loban.


Generally considered non-toxic, non-sensitizing, non-irritating in low doses.  Dilute well for topical use.
