Rose Otto

Rosa damascena-steam distilled or concrete or absolute much the same as Rose Maroc. It takes at least a ton of roses to produce a pound of oil…and they must be gathered in the morning before the sun hits them and distilled that same day. Thus, true Rose Otto is very expensive. Blends with almost all oils.

 

Generally considered non-toxic, non-sensitizing, non-irritating in low doses.  Dilute well for topical use.

The damask rose is used by itself to cool hot inflammations and swellings.  Rose water (or hydrosol) is a valuable remedy, especially for conjunctivitis.
