Oregano




Oreganum dubium  distilled from the flowering herb/leaves. The aroma is strong, herbaceous, camphoraceous.There are many different types of Oregano, varying in the amount of Carvacol, which is the germ-killing component.  They include Moroccan Oregano (compactum), Greek Oregano (hirtum), Turkish Oregano (vulgare--up to 73% carvacrol.  Origanum essential oil is both a dermal irritant and a mucous membrane irritant.

It MUST be diluted before external and internal (not recommended) use. It is guaranteed to "burn" your mouth if used neat. Not suitable for pregnancy or breastfeeding. Take care on children. Maximum dermal use level is 1%.
