Allspice

Pimenta officinalis or Pimenta dioica Steam distilled, primarily from the shells of the crushed berries (green fruits) OR leaves. Has a balsamic spicy scent, fruity with a tea-like undertone. The Berry oil is considered better, as it doesn't have as much eugenol as the leaf oil and is better for sensitive skin. The berry oil is sometimes adulterated with clove, stem or leaf oil. First called pimento (Spanish for pepper) because it was thought to be a kind of pepper. Later it was realized that it was closer to cloves and cinnamon with a hint of nutmeg; therefore the name Allspice. Is a favorite modifier in many high-end men’s fragrances.

CAUTIONS: This is a fiery oil and must be used with care. May inhibit blood clotting. Has a moderate risk of skin sensitization and mucous membrane as do most oils.  Dilute properly to .3%.
